Working collaboratively with all employee groups, School District No.48 (Sea to Sky) is committed to strengthening workplace wellbeing. Through focused efforts and shared responsibility, we envision a workplace where all employees’ wellbeing is supported to allow them to positively contribute to our mission and the communities we serve.

Workplace Wellness Definition: 
 

School District No.48 values holistic wellness for all employees. Workplace wellness includes all aspects of working life, from the quality and safety of the physical environment, to how employees feel about their work, their working environment, the climate at work and work organization. Our district strives to support this through actions, policies, procedures, and programs that ensure employees are safe, healthy, satisfied and engaged at work.

Wellness Committee: 
 
The SD48 Wellness Committee is a consultative body that provides input and advice to the Senior Leadership Team related to furthering opportunities for employees to maximize their sense of well-being at work.
 
Committee Membership: 
  • Management representatives: Director of Instruction, Principal representative and Communications Officer 
  • Regional representatives: One support staff representative per community  
  • Regional representatives: One teacher representative per community

Workplace Wellness Plan Overview:
Over the past few years, the Sea to Sky School District senior team has focused on better understanding the state of its workplace wellness. Some of the efforts that have taken place include:

• the completion of a Well at Work foundational assessment (2022),
• establishment of a district wellness committee (2023),
• superintendent site visits to engage in discussion about wellness (2023),
• the administration of a Guarding Minds employee well-being survey (2023) and
• worksite focus groups with employees (2024).
 
These efforts have provided the district a robust understanding of its overall workplace culture and
revealed a number of themes which can be improved. Equipped with this information, the district has articulated an overall workplace wellness strategy to address the identified themes and to improve workplace culture across the district.
