List of District Applications and Extensions

 
What information is being collected?
 
  • Upon completed consent, Google Apps are accessed using the student's login credentials.

  • Other information collected in using a G Suite account includes content created in and/or uploaded to the Google for Education platform by the user.

    • Content will typically take the form of assigned projects, presentations, documents, multimedia, and calendar entries created by students (eg. students working together on a group project).  

    • This content may contain personal student information reasonable for education purposes (for example, student names on written assignments). 

Who is it being shared with?

  • The information to create accounts and content created by each user are stored and shared on the secure global servers of Google for Education.

For what purpose?

  • Google for Education is used by many of the world’s leading educational institutions, including universities, secondary, and primary schools, and is intended to aid in the educational process and facilitate the instruction of digital, and online-based skills in order to better equip students for the world around them.

What else do I need to know?

  • All information shared with Google for Education is owned by our school district and can be removed at any time. Google builds and operates our own secure servers and platform services, and provides school districts with the ability to monitor and manage data security. 

  • Google for Education servers are located outside Canada, therefore the consent process must be completed prior to students being provided a Google for Education account.

  • Google for Education does not share any data or user information with any other party.

  • There are no ads in Google for Education services, and users’ personal information will not be used to create ad profiles for targeting. 

  • Google for Education is audited by independent organizations to ensure their data protection practices meet rigorous standards.

  • Google’s data centers use sophisticated hardware and are able to quickly respond to any threats or weaknesses that may emerge.

  • Google for Education encrypts all data while on the move. This ensures that your data is safe not only when it moves between you and Google's servers, but also as it moves between Google's data centers.

 
What information is being collected?
 
  • Student demographics, such as names, grade, photo, citizenship, self-declared ancestry, language preferences, medical information, email, phone number, permissions and FOIPPA preferences.  

  • General and unique educational programming information, student course participation, grades and attendance records are maintained in MyEducation BC. 

  • Staff demographics and class assignments.

  • Parent/guardian and emergency contact information, such as names, phone numbers and addresses.  

Who is it being shared with?

  • MyEducation BC data is stored in a secure data center in Kelowna and managed by the service provider, Fujitsu Consulting (Canada). A secondary data center is maintained by Fujitsu Consulting (Canada) in Regina and is a backup site for disaster recovery purposes.

For what purpose?

  • MyEducation BC is the provincial student information system required by the Ministry of Education.  It supports the operational needs of schools and districts for managing student information. It is also the platform for reporting data back to the Ministry of Education for the purposes of funding, graduation tracking, and historical enrollment and academic record retention.

What else do I need to know?

  • MyEducation BC is a condition of service for Sea to Sky Schools as it supports student management and tracking as per Ministry of Education requirements. 

  • MyEducation BC collects, stores, processes and shares student personal information only for the purposes of delivering educational programs to students. 

  • MyEducation BC is owned by the Ministry of Education and is subject to all privacy regulations and legislation governing Ministry of Education software systems. 

  • Student data is not used for advertising, marketing or any purposes outside of delivering educational programming to students.   

  • Access to MyEducation BC is limited by security roles and assigned to users who are directly involved with students’ educational programming.  Access is regularly reviewed to ensure users have access that is appropriate to their involvement in student programming.

 
What information is being collected?
 
  • Teacher name, teacher email address and school location.  Students are rostered by our ICT team for accessing RAZ-Kids tools. 

Who is it being shared with?

  • Learning A-Z user accounts are stored and accessed through servers outside of Canada.  

  • Learning A-Z support staff may access account data to provide customer service to teachers requiring support.  

For what purpose?

  • Provides engaging and attractive reading resources for students, from emergent to proficient readers. 

  • Presents reading materials and engages students in quizzes, assessments and support materials.  

  • Supports studies in other curricular areas by developing reading skills and providing engaging content on a variety of topics for students with different interests. 

What else do I need to know?

  • Learning A-Z collects, stores, processes and shares teacher information only for the purposes of providing the service for the duration of the annual license. 

  • Learning A-Z does not own the content or data collected from a district, school board, school, teacher, parent or student. Users own their content and data.

  • Learning A-Z does not sell, use or share personal information or content for marketing or advertising purposes.

  • Learning A-Z does not use student data for targeted advertising purposes.

  • At any time, a parent/guardian can request that access to Learning A-Z programs be withdrawn.  

 
What information is being collected?
 
  • Student demographics, such as name, pupil number, date of birth, grade, gender, email address, and school/district.  

  • Student current and historical assessment information, student course selection

  • Staff names and class assignments

Who is it being shared with?

  • myBlueprint data is stored in a Canadian Cloud and is not accessible from outside of Canada. All data is securely transmitted and is not shared with anyone without their permission. 

For what purpose?

  • To provide a digital portfolio to support students in documenting their learning, planning their education, and preparing for their future.    

  • To engage families with tools that align with emerging self-service trends by providing real-time student progress reports, parent participation and student support.

What else do I need to know?

  • myBlueprint collects, stores, processes and shares student personal information only for the purposes of providing the service.

  • myBlueprint does not own the content or data collected from a district, school board, school, teacher, parent or student. Users own their content and data.

  • myBlueprint does not sell, use or share personal information or content for marketing or advertising purposes.

  • myBlueprint does not use student data for targeted advertising purposes.

  • At any time, a parent/guardian can complete a formal request to delete all information for their child on myBlueprint. 

 
What information is being collected?
 
  • Staff names for user account creation and student names for participation in Zoom webinars/meetings.

Who is it being shared with?

  • Zoom user accounts are stored and accessed through servers in Canada.

  • District IT support staff assisting in the maintenance and support of staff Zoom accounts and product use. 

  • Zoom support staff may access account data to provide customer service to staff requiring support.  

For what purpose?

  • Zoom facilitates a range of communications for district staff, including: online meetings within the school district, virtual classrooms, distance learning, online courses, group project collaboration, and office hours for teachers to answer student questions and deliver learning.  

  • Provides a platform for guest speakers to present over video as appropriate to district or school needs. 

  • Zoom provides a flexible tool to continue collaboration among district staff and continue to deliver learning where classroom opportunities are not possible.  

What else do I need to know?

  • Zoom collects, stores, processes and shares student personal information only for the purposes of providing the service.

  • Zoom does not own the content or data collected from a district, school board, school, teacher, parent or student.

  • Zoom does not sell, use or share personal information or content for marketing or advertising purposes.

  • Zoom does not use student data for targeted advertising purposes.

 
 
What information is being collected?
 
  • Student name, pupil number, grade, homeroom, birthdate, address, phone number, parent/guardian name and email, and student class and activity information. 

Who is it being shared with?

  • District employees involved in the administration of the system, including: finance department staff at the school and district level involved in invoicing and collection of school fees and district IT personnel responsible for data transfer and ensuring technology protocols are in place and maintained. 

For what purpose?

  • To provide parents and guardians with a secure payment system so students are not carrying cash or cheques to and from school.  

  • Maximize efficiency in the management of school fees and expenses and provide a single source of fees and payment history in one place. 

  • As a tool to obtain permission (i.e.: G Suite consent)
 
 

What else do I need to know?

  • The KEV application is a condition of service for Sea to Sky School District as it supports essential operations for all programs.

  • KEV collects, stores, processes and shares personal information only for the purposes of providing the service.

  • KEV does not own the content or data collected from a district, school board, school, teacher, parent or student. Users own their content and data. KEV does not retain personal information any longer than necessary for the delivery of services or comply with legal requirements.

  • KEV does not sell, use or share personal information or content for marketing or advertising purposes.

  • KEV does not use student data for targeted advertising purposes.

 
What information is being collected?
 
  • Teacher name, district email address and country. 

  • Student name, email address, and country.

Who is it being shared with?

  • District and school teaching and IT staff maintaining user accounts for Adobe Creative Cloud. Adobe support staff may access accounts for support services.

  • Adobe Creative Cloud user accounts are stored and accessed through servers outside of Canada. 

For what purpose?

  • Provides students and staff with access to a collection of software tools including graphic design, audio/video editing, web development, and photography. These products and services will support and enhance both the staff and student experience in creating, managing, delivering, measuring and engaging with curriculum across SD48.

What else do I need to know?

  • Adobe Creative Cloud collects, stores, processes and shares student personal information only for the purposes of providing the service.

  • Adobe Creative Cloud does not own the content or data collected from a district, school board, school, teacher, or student.

  • Adobe Creative Cloud does not sell, use or share personal information or content for marketing or advertising purposes.

  • Adobe Creative Cloud does not use student data for targeted advertising purposes.
